Treasure: Renewing Creation (Isaiah 11:1-12, Romans 8:18-25)

OVERVIEW: To whet your appetite, consider this quote from Michelle Bachelet (United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights):
“The World has never seen a threat to human rights of this scope.” She is referring not to exploitation or ill-treatment of people, but to the threat we all face from the climate change which is happening because of our exploitation of the environment. And so, to achieve justice for people, we ultimately need justice for the environment.
“If we have not taken dramatic action within the next decade, we face irreversible damage to the natural world and the collapse of our societies.” – David Attenborough
God’s creation is groaning under the strain we are placing upon it, and without the commitment of governments worldwide to tackle the issue, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. This is where our faith comes in, for with God’s hand to hold, and with everyone contributing in their own unique way, we can take significant steps forward.
