More news about the choir?
We have had a wonderful year in the music team and things are going from strength to strength.
The Junior choir has grown and now numbers 9 children, all girls who are enthusiastic and hard working and produce a beautiful sound. They have also joined with other junior church choirs as the RSCM Young Voices choir, at a concert in aid of the ‘Homestart’ charity. We have some great ideas to get them singing so there is definitely something to look forward to this year.
The Senior Team has some new members adding to the overall sound and we have utilized the talents of some to release others for different roles to give a varied sound. We are still able to combine the modern worship song style with those of a more traditional style and we can still achieve a beautiful 4 part harmony. This said we are always happy for people to join us and help us bring worship to God. We are on the look out for some men. Tenors and bass would be wonderful and trebles (boys).
Musician wise we have some very good instrumentalists which add to the worship at St. Tims: Martin for the organ, keyboard and Viola, Matthew for keyboard (and piano in the evening), Chris on guitar, Ian on bass guitar, Roger on ‘whistles’, Jen and Kate on drums and Jackie on guitar in evening, all of whom are very faithful and willing and without whom we would not have the variety we do at present.
We have good news in that Martin and Ellen completed the Worship4today worship leaders course and were authorized by Bishop Cyril last year as Worship Leaders. They continue to have six monthly update sessions and are occasionally seen singing in the cathedral and other places with other worship leaders. This has also been beneficial in forging links with other churches in the Diocese and also the Junior choirs links with ‘Young Voices’.
We thank God for all the gifts and blessings He has given us so far this year and pray that He will be continue to use us to glorify His name!
We would welcome anyone with a particular talent to come and join us. If anyone is interested please contact Martin or Ellen via the Church office. admin@sttims.org.uk
