St Timothy's Church, Crookes, Sheffield

Welcome

We are delighted to announce we have a new Vicar!

The Revd Malcolm Lambert and his wife, Ruth will be joining us at St Timothy’s around June time. We will update you with more detail soon.

In the meantime, here is a message from them:

Hello everyone! I’m Malcolm Lambert, and I’ve been appointed as the new Priest in Charge of St Tim’s. I’m delighted, and really looking forward to moving to Sheffield and meeting you all.

I thought it might be helpful if I introduced myself. I’m 59, married to Ruth, and we have two adult children. Halo lives and works in London; Kieran is married to Lucy. They live and work in Coventry, and have a daughter Natalie who’s 3. We also have a dog, a field spaniel called Toby.

I worked as a mental health nurse in Leicester during my 20’s. I trained for the ministry in Cambridge. After that came 20 years back in Leicestershire as a Vicar. Then in 2008 we had an adventure, and went with USPG (a church mission agency) to Central America for a year. Since then I’ve had 6 years as Team Rector of three churches on the edge of London, and for the last three years we’ve been based near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.

Ruth is also ordained, and works as a hospital chaplain. She’s just been appointed as the new Head of Chaplaincy for the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals – and so now I’m following her to Sheffield.

We are not sure when we will move to St Tim’s. Quite a lot of work needs to be done on the house before we can move into it, and that’s in the hands of the Diocese to sort out. But the best guess at the moment is for that take about three months – which means we are probably looking at late May or even June.

Meanwhile I will be praying for you, and please, do pray for us. For Ruth as she starts her new job after Easter, for me as I start to say goodbye to my current parish, and get ready to come and be with you.

God bless you all.

About St Timothy’s

We’re a local church community, with people of all ages and backgrounds, running a wide range of activities throughout the week in addition to our Sunday Worship.

Our passion is to build a growing church, energised by God’s love in a troubled world. Our symbol is a harbour lighthouse.   God has helped us find safe harbour – we hope we can help others do the same!

To enable this, we have different adults and young people’s ministries growing the life of our church community, and others reaching into the wider community.

If you are new to Sheffield, new to the area, or simply looking for a church, you’re very welcome to try us out.  Come and join us at any of our three Sunday services or at Wednesday communion held in the Side Chapel at 12pm (noon). To get a flavour of the sermons, listen to a recording.
